Ten Thousand Free Man And Their Families supporting David Liebe Hart in Australia!
”Wait, what? I’ll be supporting the David Liebe Hart Band on their Australian Tour. You love Tim & Eric, so come along!”
Datathrash began in January 2011 as a blog ( http://datathrash.tumblr.com/ ) about chipmusic albums and artists that were heavier, darker, faster, or more insane than the typical dance music the scene was known for. On July 4th of that year the first album under the label “Datathrash Recordings” was released, a live recording of Timeheater’s performance at the 5th anniversary of Pulsewave ( http://datathrash.bandcamp.com/album/timeheater-pulsewave-5th-anniversary-04-30-11 ). A compilation album featuring our favorite artists and tracks from the blog had also been planned and was released just a few days later ( http://datathrash.bandcamp.com/album/datathrash-mixtape-1 ).
At this point there were no long-term plans to establish “Datathrash Recordings” as a proper record label (netlabel, whatever) but interest from some of our favorite artists soon made it obvious that the type of music we blogged about and supported was looking for a home. How could we possibly refuse?! ;)
By the end of 2011 we had become the champion of the “chipthrash” movement and were working closely with many of the artists that had originally inspired us to begin promoting and sharing our love for lofi electronic hardcore. :,)
More than two years, 3 compilations, and 30 albums later we’re going stronger than ever and have our eyes dead-set on the future.
Chipthrash can never die.
Lofi Electronic Hardcore 4Lyfe.
